I put together this short list of the changes I want to make for my own health in 2015 and I wanted to share it with you. Most of these I’m really going to try to do every day, but life gets so busy it’s easy to not follow through! I’m hoping to make my best effort to make them a priority!
My 5 Health Resolutions for 2015:
1. Do Oil Pulling Two Times a Day (once in the morning and once at night)
Often, this is the first thing that I skip when I am running late in the morning. But, I’m going to stop looking at it as a hassle and multi task instead. Oil pulling can be really easy to do while you’re getting ready for the day. You can swish the oil while you’re showering, making breakfast or even while commuting to work!
2. Eat a Serving of Fermented Food with Every Meal (or at least once a day)
According to Dr. Mercola a serving of fermented foods contains 100 TIMES more probiotics than an entire bottle of a high potency probiotics. Too often, I just take a probiotic supplement instead of getting ‘friendly’ bacteria from fermented foods. If you’re not into making your own or are short on time, try this, it’s delicious and full of ‘friendly bacteria’. Another benefit is that it is much cheaper than buying probiotic supplements.
3. Do Dry Brushing Two Times a Day (once in morning and once at night)
I’d hate to admit it, but my dry brush has been sitting on my shelf and I haven’t used it for probably about a month! :/ After being sick last month, I kind of forgot about doing it. But when I did dry brushing, I saw such great improvements; my sleep improved and even my skin cleared up more. So, I’m going to definitely start making this a habit again.
4. Stop Sitting So Much and Get More Active to Increase Circulation.
This is something that probably all of us could improve on. Too often, I sit down at the computer, get to work, and the hours fly by. I forget about getting up and moving around. A good rule to follow is to get up at least once every hour, so I’m going to keep a clock near my computer as an extra reminder. This can be just getting up and walking around the room or doing some rebounding. I’m also thinking about including some yoga into my daily routine.
5. Focus on Eating Foods Rich in the Nutrients
My goal is to get most of the nutrients and vitamins I need from food. A few of the vitamins/minerals I am typically low in are zinc and magnesium. To increase my zinc, I’ve now started eating a handful of pumpkin seeds, which are an excellent source of it. Also, to increase my magnesium, instead of taking a supplement, I am applying magnesium oil daily or doing an Epsom salt foot bath.
Hope you have a wonderful New Year’s! It would be great to hear your New Year’s resolutions in the comments! 🙂
