I have always had trouble with sleeping and after exploring many options I finally found what works for me. The solution to my problems sleeping wasn’t an expensive new mattress or taking sleeping pills. It was a surprisingly easy solution to make an inexpensive homemade sleepy time spray. When I go to bed I often have trouble sleeping because I start to think of things I have to do or things that I should have done during the day. This mixture calms me down and relaxes me allowing for easy sleep. The pleasant scent of lavender takes the day’s troubles away and eliminates stress.
Why it’s Important to Get Good Sleep
Getting good sleep is key for improving many aspects of your health. The strength of your immune system is dependent heavily on getting enough sleep. By getting quality sleep you reduce your risk of heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. Sleep is also extremely important for growth and learning as a child or teen. If you have a child who is struggling to sleep well, try making this sleepy time spray and using it on their pillows before bedtime.
How this Sleepy Time Spray Works
By spraying this mixture on pillows before bedtime, your sleep will be greatly enhanced. You can spray it on your pillows, PJ’s, or apply to your feet. Using lavender essential oil relaxes and soothes in order to ensure satisfying rest. Magnesium deficiency is known to cause many conditions that may prevent you from getting adequate sleep. Magnesium in this spray will help to reduce stress and aid restless leg syndrome.
How to Make this Homemade Sleepy Time Spray
1. Take ½ a cup of warm water and add the magnesium flakes. They will dissolve in the water within a few minutes.
2. Add the lavender essential oil to the mixture and stir.
3. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle.
4. Spray it on your skin or pillows about 15 minutes before you go to bed. I usually spray it on my feet.
How to Store the Homemade Sleepy Time Spray
I keep the spray bottle on my night stand. This way it’s easy to apply right before bed. This mixture makes enough for several nights or even weeks if only one person is using it. I like to make a new batch each week to prevent bacteria growing in the mixture, since there are no preservatives in it.
